Chattanooga Police Officer Nicholas Galinger (pictured above) died over the weekend from injuries sustained in a hit and run.  The 38-year old officer, according to police reports, was checking an overflowing manhole cover Saturday night when he was hit by a Honda CRV.

Galinger’s body is being taken back to his native Ohio today for a Friday funeral and burial.  As the escort makes its way up I-75 from Chattanooga to Cincinnati, deputies with the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department will assist in the escort through Campbell County.  CCSD Chief Deputy Jeremy Goins said the tentative time frame for the Campbell County leg of the journey is 10:30 am to 11 am.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/27/2019-6AM-PHOTO AND IMAGE COURTESY OF WTVC-TV)
