Iris Jean “Jeanie” (Boshears) Hicks, age 80 of LaFollette

Iris Jean “Jeanie” (Boshears) Hicks, age 80 of LaFollette, went home to be with her loving husband and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, June 22, 2019. She was born May 16, 1939 in Jacksboro to the late Harold and June Woods Boshears. Jeanie enjoyed watching sports, gameshows, and westerns, especially “Gunsmoke”.

In addition to her parents, Jeanie is preceded in death by husband, Rev. William “Bill” Hicks; sisters, Kathryn Johnson, Marcella Reed, and Alice “Bug” Asbury; son in laws, Danny Maddox and Ron Bowling.

Jeanie is survived by her son, Mike Hicks and wife, Debbie of Jacksboro; daughters, Pam Keathley of LaFollette, Dawn Maddox of Atlanta, Georgia, Freda Bowling of LaFollette, and Valerie Ayers of LaFollette; sister, Nancy Chadwell of LaFollette; brother in law, Rev. J.T. Asbury and Gary Reed both of Jacksboro. Jeanie had 13 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Visitation for Jeanie will be on Tuesday, June 25th from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Macedonia Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at the church with Rev. J.T. Asbury officiating. Her interment will follow the funeral service at Macedonia Cemetery.
