JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Friendlier weather awaits the Campbell County Cougars when they hit the lower level practice field this morning at 8 am.  The 2019 football Cougars worked out in rain for much of Tuesday’s second day of preseason practice.  Today begins a string of rain-free and mild weather days.TOP PHOTO:  Cougar Head Coach Justin Price, also the offensive coordinator, explains to his center Brennon Byrge (51) that on this particular running play, he wants him to take care of the nose guard first to make the linebacker have to go around.

Price tells his right guard, (56) Carson Meade and right tackle (64) Ben Conrad the wider the split, the better.  In the photo below, Meade and Conrad block while (70) Caleb Conrad pulls from his left guard spot to lead the way for running back (22) C.J. Allen as Allen takes the hand off from quarterback (7) Joseph Paul.

On today’s third day of practice during Acclamation Week, the Cougars will practice in helmets and shoulder pads.  This coming Monday marks the first day of full pads.

The first preseason scrimmage is Thursday, August 1, at Knoxville against Webb in a 6:30 pm start.  CCHS’s home scrimmage is Thursday, August 8, at 6 pm with Central.

On Friday, August 16, the Cougars play Austin-East at Neyland Stadium in the KOC High School Kick-Off Classic.  They play in the second quarter beginning at approximately 6:30 pm.

The Cougars open their 2019 season at home against the Cocke County Fighting Cocks, out of Newport, on Friday, Aug. 23.
