LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – The City of LaFollette will be celebrating National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 6 to 8 pm at Seargeant Park.

National Night Out promotes police-community partnerships in neighborhoods across the country. The event focuses on the community and raising awareness through camaraderie. The National Association of Town Watch sponsors National Night Out in the United States and Canada. Although the origins date back to the early 1970s, the day has been celebrated since 1984 annually and is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch in the United States and Canada. National Night Out began simply with neighbors turning on their porch lights and sitting in front of their homes. The first National Night Out involved 2.5 million residents across 400 communities in 23 states; National Night Out 2016 involved 38 million residents in 16,000 communities across the United States.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/05/2019-6AM-PHOTOS COURTESY OF WLAF’S CHARLIE HUTSON)
