LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Multiple law enforcement agencies, federal and state, converged on Riggs Drug in La Follette at or just before opening time for the pharmacy Wednesday morning preventing the store from opening on time.  The store has since opened for business.   An initial call to the DEA’s Regional Office at Louisville, Kentucky, referred WLAF to the U-S Attorneys Office at Knoxville.  In a statement released to WLAF from the U-S Attorneys spokesperson Raine Palmer, Palmer said, ” Our Criminal Chief David Jennings general rule is not to comment, confirm or deny, on any potential on-going investigation.”

It’s not been confirmed if today’s event is linked to the July 2016 event at the same Riggs.  As of yet, no news has come from authorities about 2016.

Fannon told WLAF early Wednesday afternoon, “I’ve never seen anything (today’s event) like this ever before.”   He described today’s event as an audit led by Health and Human Services with assistance from the DEA and FBI.   (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/21/2019-2PM-UPDATED 2:45PM)
