JACKSBORO, TN – It was early afternoon, as usual, on a Wednesday, on top of The Hill at Campbell County High School as a welcome breeze blew just enough to keep the heat from being too hateful.  It was time for Coach Price’s pre-game interview recording session for Friday night’s broadcast of Campbell hosting Cocke County over the WLAF – B & M Tires Sports Network.  But things were different.  It was Coach Matt Price rather than Justin Price talking about Friday’s game.

“This has all been sorta odd including Justin and me watching the jamboree game last Friday over WLAF from the hospital (Children’s Hospital),” said Matt, Justin’s identical twin brother.  “You know, when we got the news last Thursday that Justin’s youngest son was diagnosed with leukemia, our focus turned to Jack and his situation,” he added.

Matt, Justin’s right hand and defensive coordinator, explained  he’s expecting and hoping Justin will be at the season opening game with Cocke County on Friday.  He said, “A lot of it will hinge on how Jack responds to a new medication he’s due to receive on Friday.”

Life on The Hill has also been quite different since the arrival of the Price twins in 2011.  The Cougars have won 49 football games in their short tenure compared to the program’s first 49 wins which came over a span of 25 seasons.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/22/2019-6AM – PHOTO COURTESY OF JAVEN MCCULLEY)
