NEWCOMB, TN (WLAF) – Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Charles Courtney (Correction:  Deputy Courtney Charles) went to Shady Pine Lane in Newcomb last Friday about a man throwing a brick through a door.    When Charles arrived, she saw the front screen door had been busted out of the home. She then made contact with Jared Lay who was sitting on the couch at the home. Lay had small cuts on his arms, hands and torso, according to a report from the sheriff’s department. Charles then noticed a glass ash tray under a baby crib in the living room. A rock was found under a rocking chair in the living room.

A witness who had been at the home at the time of the incident had called his wife saying that Lay had thrown a rock through the door. The wife then called law enforcement. The witness left the home prior to Charles’  arrival.

Lay had an active order of protection against him and the homeowner. He also had two active warrants through the county.

Lay, 21, 422 Shady Pine Lane, Newcomb is charged with vandalism, violation order of protection, violation of probation (General Sessions Court) and capias/bench warrant. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/29/2019-6AM)
