JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. On Wednesday, the Counseling Department at Campbell County High School hosted an activity for Suicide Prevention Awareness.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, suicide rates have increased by 30% since 1999. Each year, more than 41,000 individuals die by suicide, leaving behind their friends and family members to navigate the tragedy of loss.  For more information, connect HERE.

Led by the B1 group under the direction of Kyra Pierce, students and faculty were encouraged to wear yellow on Wednesday in honor of this cause. They were also invited to sign the banner, and post a message of support for their peers. They then selected a message from the wall to give away to someone.
