LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Volunteers and monetary donations are needed to help Sleep in Heavenly Peace live up to its slogan of “No kid sleeps on the floor in our town.”  The organization, also known as SHP, builds bunk beds for children who do not have beds, and its hosting a fun event tomorrow called “Bunks and Burgers” at Woodson Mall.“Right now there are 12 kids sleeping on the floor and waiting for beds in the Jacksboro, La Follette, Caryville area, and community sponsors are needed,”  Bill Thompson, the chapter president with SHP, said.

The SHP brand is burned into every bed.  In May 2019, Cayden Sumner (below) shows off the brand.  Cayden was the youngest volunteer that day’s build at United Cumberland Bank.

SHP is hosting a “Bunks and Burgers” event, tomorrow, Saturday, Sept.  21, 9:30 am until noon, at the Woodson Mall-Food City Center.  A donation of $350 would cover the cost to build a bunk bed.  Each $350 donation also provides 10 free tickets to a burger lunch.
