LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – La Follette Librarian Nancy Green welcomes you to the annual Friends of the La Follette Public Library Book Sale that continues today and runs through Saturday starting at 10 am both days.  “We started strong Thursday morning with a really good turnout,” said Green.“Hard back books are a dollar each and so are the softback books, and from there the price goes down.  Saturday is “bag a book” day” where you can pay five dollars for all the books you can fit into one bag,” added Green.  Many of the books are donated with some that are weeded off the library’s shelves due to lack of circulation, according to the longtime librarian.

The Friends of the La Follette Library host the sale in the gym under the library on South 9th Street.  Green can’t say enough about what the Friends do for the library through funds raised for items outside the library’s budget to volunteering.

The Friends of the LaFollette Public Library organization plays a significant role in supporting the library’s programs and services. Volunteers raise money to purchase library materials and to fund a variety of programs throughout the year, including the library’s summer reading programs. The Friends raise money through memberships and book sales.
