CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – Caryville Chief of Police Brian Keeton offered praise to his officers at last night’s Caryville Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting.  WATCH the meeting HERE.

Keeton told the board his officers were doing an excellent job. He presented Officer Daniel Garrett a plaque of appreciation for his work over the last seven and a half months. Keeton shared that Garrett had made 110 arrests, answered 941 calls and conducted 564 traffic stops.

The issue of short-term rentals was brought to the board’s attention in late summer. Shortly thereafter, the town’s attorney, Adam Bullock, began working on drafting an ordinance to address the rentals. Last night, the town held a second and final reading of Ordinance 2019-06.  The ordinance outlines operating procedures for the short-term rentals.

Mayor Bobby Stooksbury talked with the board about having the town’s remaining industrial land, which is about 40 acres, appraised. The board agreed to advertise for bids for someone to appraise the land.

The beer board approved seven annual beer permits, El Rey’s, Truck Stops of America, Rocky Top Market #919, PFJ dba Pilot #1577, Dollar General, Quik Stop and Pioneer Shell. Aldermen Eric Smith voted no on all the annual permits, saying “I voted no, because none of the applicants were present tonight.”  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 12/10/2019-6AM)
