LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A strong storm system will impact the Tennessee Valley region Saturday and Saturday night, bringing a potential for multiple weather hazards.

High winds are expected to develop across the mountains and foothills of East Tennessee early Saturday morning. Southerly winds may produce wind gusts of 60 mph or greater at times.

A line of showers and thunderstorms is expected to cross the area Saturday afternoon and evening. Portions of this line may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. In addition, heavy rainfall is expected with this line. Given the recent rounds of heavy rainfall and saturated soils, this round of heavy rain could cause flooding concerns to increase along rivers, streams, and low-lying areas.
