LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Want to get a cute picture of you and your pooch for Valentine’s Day while also helping local 4-H youth?  Stop by the Smooch a Pooch Kissing Booth event being held at Tractor Supply today and tomorrow. On Friday, the event will go from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. There will be a cute backdrop setup for photos to be taken in front of with your pet. All pets must be on a leash, according to organizers. You can bring your own cell phone for pics or someone will also be on hand to take photos and email them to Walmart to be printed.

It is a $5 minimum donation for two digital images. All funds raised will go towards helping Campbell County 4-H youth and all funds stay locally in the county. If you don’t have a pet, you can also bring your kids to have a photo taken in front of the backdrop.

The two day fundraising event is organized and sponsored by Family and Community Education (FCE), which is an outreach of the University of Tennessee Extension. It is an entirely volunteer based organization.  According to FCE President Amy Johnson, the organization helps the community in many ways, especially with 4-H programs and learning opportunities.  FCE benefits multiple organizations throughout the county.

“We help in the schools by donating books and promoting literacy, as well as helping kids with 4-H camp and other camps. We try to help as many people as we can in as many ways as we can,” Johnson said.

Anyone wishing to get involved with FCE can contact the UT Extension office in Jacksboro at 423-562-9474 for more information or stop by the Smooch a Pooch event and ask about getting involved.  “It’s a great way to help area youth in the county,” Johnson said. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/07/2020-6AM)
