JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Campbell County Sheriff Robbie K. Goins announces that since the sheriff’s department became fully certified to carry and administer NARCAN, just eight months ago, it has successfully deployed NARCAN five times with a life being saved in each instance. NARCAN is an emergency treatment for a known or suspected opioid overdose.

Last Saturday afternoon was the latest such life saving measure taken by a Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy.  At a home in the Demory area, Corporal Jeff Allen administered NARCAN to an unresponsive individual suspected of overdosing.  Allen’s actions saved the life of the young man believed to be about 30-years old.

The sheriff’s department became fully certified in June of 2019.  NARCAN is used for the treatment of an opioid emergency or a possible opioid overdose with signs of breathing problems and severe sleepiness or not being able to respond.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/10/2020-11AM)
