Elton Hollis Byrd, age 63 of Clinton passed away suddenly 9:58 PM Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at Methodist Medical Center after fighting courageously and bravely, a lengthy illness.

He is preceded in death by parents, Hollis and Geraldine Byrd, mother and father-in-law, Ray and Betty Myers, his sister-in-law, Linda Jean Myers Oliver, and 1 grandson Thomas Emmett-Anthony Miller.

He is survived by wife of 36 years, Melissa Kae (Myers) Byrd of Clinton, son, Dustin Matthew Byrd & daughter in love, Molly Haven Ferguson of Clinton, daughter, Stephanie Amber Asbury Miller of Knoxville, 3 grandchildren, William Edward Phillips, Jr., affectionately known as E.J., Kinsley Haven Byrd, and Mariah Grace Miller, affectionately known as Gracie, also 6 step grandchildren, 2 sisters-in-law, Susan Rae Myers Goodman of Clinton and Diana Lee Myers Boston of LaFollette, 1 brother-in-law, Ray Curtis & wife, Robin of LaFollette, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and a host of friends.

Elton loved his family, enjoyed old cars, riding motorcycles, but was very passionate about his ministry, Man 2 Man.  He also loved his huge church family and ministry associates.  He had recently, along with his wife, joined the National Chaplains Coalition and became a chaplain.  He loved his Christian brothers and their families, Billy & Dana Arnett, Tim & Missy Jenkins, Roy and Sue Ellis, Llewellyn & Linda Sperry, Danny & Nina Roy, Chris & Jacqulaine Judd, Curtis & Alice Akers, Ronnie & Jeannie Hepperly, Raymond & Linda Goodman, Gerald & Glenda Willard, Roy & Doug Smith, Jesse Acosta, special friends, Travis & Tammy McKamey, I could go on and on, but if I’ve left anyone out, I truly apologize.

Elton had one special friend that he grew up with, loved and counted as a brother, Raymond Lee Davis.

Visitation will be 11 AM – 1 PM Thursday, February 20, 2020 in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home followed by funeral service at 1 PM with Rev. Billy Arnett, Rev. Tim Jenkins, Rev. Danny Roy, Rev. Curtis Akers, and Rev. Ronnie Hepperly officiating.

Following funeral service, friends and family will go in procession to Campbell Memorial Gardens for interment.

In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted to help the family of Elton Byrd with his funeral arrangements at Martin Wilson Funeral Home.
