JACKSBORO, TN. (WLAF)- Rain continues to create issues for the Town of Jacksboro.

Frank Wallace with the Caryville Jacksboro Utilities Commission presented a plan to the Town of Jacksboro Board of Mayor and Aldermen last night to alleviate flooding on Pack Street. Wallace explained the issue would need to be approached backward, starting at the end of the issue. Wallace told the board catch basins and larger tiles will need to be installed to alleviate the issue. The board approved moving forward with the project.
Mayor June Forstner shared with the board she had found two areas of the code book that need to be updated. The updates should be ready by the April board meeting.
The fire department brought two items before the board. The first item was purchasing a thermal imaging camera. Forstner said if the purchase was below $2,500 it would not need to bid out, but if it exceeded that amount it would need to be bid. Jacksboro Fire Chief Jason Shetterly talked about the urgency of purchasing the camera and appeared hopeful that he could keep the purchase below $2,500, telling the board he had looked at cameras ranging from $1,200 to $3,5000. The next item was the Internet speed in the fire hall. Shetterly said  it was hard for the crew to watch training videos from the Internet because the videos would “freeze or lag.” The board agreed to have the issue checked.
In the last item of the night, Alderman Shayne Green requested the town get a price quote on upgrading the cell phones for the public works director, police chief and fire chief. Currently the phones only have basic service without texting or Internet. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED -3/6/20- 6AM)
