Private donations totaling over $4,000 were raised from area businesses and individuals while the school, through candy sales and other fundraising efforts, also contributed to the purchases of the badly-needed equipment, board member Jeffrey Miller reported.

The board also unanimously approved the school calendar for the 2020-21 school year. The calendar was postponed from last month’s meeting when Johnny Byrge challenged the proposal to close schools on Veterans’ Day, Byrge pointing out that area veterans enjoyed the opportunities to tour the schools and speak to students on past Veterans’ Days.

The board also held a brief executive session in private with attorney Dail Cantrell, presumably to discuss the ongoing controversy surrounding the proposed Potter Southeast rock quarry.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 03/11/2020-6AM)
