LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Further discussion of the proposed Day Center for Downtown La Follette is put on hold due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

La Follette City Administrator Jimmy Jeffries tells WLAF that he spoke with City of La Follette Regional Planning Commission Chairman Joe Bolinger earlier today.  The chairman said, “The meeting scheduled for Thursday March 26, 2020, has been cancelled.”

Contingent on the spread of the COVID 19 virus, the city council will make a decision early next week on whether to cancel the workshop scheduled for March 30, 2020.  WLAF will pass that verdict along to you as soon as a decision has been made.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 03/18/2020-3PM)

  1. I’m interested in knowing if the fishing tournament shouldn’t be canceled since alot of fishermen will be coming from different states, and counties going in and out of our local stores and Motels this to me is a high risk for spreading the Coronavirus to the Campbell County Residents and workers.

  2. My concern as a Campbell County Resident is that our CC Mayor E L Morton is allowing a fishing tournament on 3/21/2020 at the White Bridge meaning there will be people from different states , and counties entering our stores ,gas stations and Motels which is putting Campbell County residents at risk. While the State and Government is asking residents to limit public activities even work even offices hospitals etc. Limiting entry or even closing but going to allow this tournament of close to 200 boaters which is usually 2 to a boat. Not a good choice Mr. Morton yea its bringing money to our county but not one dollar is worth a life. I love my elderly family as well as others.
