No school.  No softball.  No problem for Valley View Pre-K teacher and Campbell Lady Cougar Softball Coach Rebecca Mongar-Collette.  She’s still busy making a difference in the lives of students even though school and softball are on hold.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Valley View Pre-School teacher Rebecca Mongar-Collette has begun hosting an online story time for kids stuck at home due to the Coronavirus related school closures. Called “Story Time with Mrs. Rebecca,” the online stories can be viewed on her Facebook page.

Mongar-Collette has been a teacher at Valley View Elementary for 11 years. She said she decided to do the online story time on Facebook to give her students and others something fun to do and look forward to each day.
So far, she has recorded two stories for kids to watch and hear. She has over 1,000 viewers already, some even as far away as Iowa. Her story time has been shared throughout Campbell County and into a few neighboring counties as well. Parents and kids are loving it and have been providing positive encouragement on social media.
Mongar-Collette said she hopes to do a story each day the students are out of school. Currently, school is not scheduled to start back till April 1.
“My class loves story time.  It’s one of their favorite times of the day, so I thought this way they still get to enjoy that and I wanted other kids and classes to be able to enjoy it as well,” Mongar-Collette said.   (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 03/20/2020-6AM)
