LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A call of a car being driven off without the owner’s permission prompted action by the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.  On March 14, Campbell County Deputy James McCall responded to a call about white car being taken without the owner’s permission. While enroute to the home, McCall passed a white car on General Carl Stiner Highway going westbound. He turned around to catch the vehicle and as he approached the vehicle near Wildwood Circle and Stiner Highway  McCall saw the white car pass another car on the left side in a non-passing zone, according to a report from the sheriff’s department.

When McCall stopped the vehicle, he was advised by dispatch that this was the car taken from the residence without permission. McCall asked the driver if he knew why he pulled him over and he replied “Yes, because I passed the other vehicle on the wrong side of the road.” While the driver was talking, McCall noticed a strong smell of alcohol coming from his breath, watery blood shot eyes and slurred speech. He was then asked to step out of the vehicle and perform field sobriety tests, which he allegedly performed poorly.

The driver identified as Justin Alex Buderer, 29, 146 Sandy Circle, LaFollette is charged with driving under the influence and reckless driving. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 03/23/2020-6AM)
