LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – At this hour crews with the La Follette Utilities Board are working in three different locations of the LUB service area restoring power to customers.  At one time in the past couple of hours, 72 customers were without electricity.  LUB General Manager Kenny Baird said, “We’ve whittled that number down to 10 here in the past few minutes.”

Baird calls wet ground and winds “a bad combination.”  Strong wind gusts are expected the rest of the day.  Some of the gusts have been in the neighborhood of 45-miles per hour around Campbell County over the past 24-hours.

LUB received a request from its utility neighbor to the west, Plateau Electric Cooperative.  The cooperative asked for help in getting its customers power restored from last night’s storm.   Baird said, “We couldn’t send anyone today, but we plan to send a crew in the morning if they still need it, and we aren’t having any issues.”  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 04/13/2020-2:30PM)
