Watch out, Sherman!  Sherman Petree was all smiles as he received his kindergarten diploma on Thursday and got a special visit from a shark at Valley View School.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Valley View Elementary School held a drive through graduation for its kindergarten and preschool students on Thursday evening. Teachers dressed up and cheered the students on as they drove through to receive their diplomas. A total of 69 kindergarten students received their diplomas, as did around 40 preschoolers.

The Valley View Bobcat even made a special appearance for photos with the kids.

Nathan Suttles in his cap and gown got a special visit from the Valley View Bobcat and Mary Ann Ayers.

The special drive through graduation was organized by kindergarten and preschool teachers, who said the 2020 school year had been anything but “normal” due to the many cancellations and changes brought on by the pandemic.

“I’m just glad we got to put something together for them and celebrate their accomplishment,” said kindergarten teacher Brittany Vann.

Former Valley View student Logan Serber, Monica Serber and Catey Phillips helped out by dressing up for the kids at the Valley View Elementary School graduation on Thursday.
