TOP PHOTO:  The last barrier is pulled on Monday night to allow the Central Avenue Bridge to be wide open to traffic.

The west bound lanes opened with traffic flowing at 9: 30 pm Monday night.  Cones were used in place of stripes before the striping crew arrived around 11 pm.

Below is a look with stripes at 5 am on Tuesday.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – The stripes are down and the barrels have been picked up.  The downtown bridge is open to all lanes of traffic this morning.  WLAF’s Charlie Hutson was there when crews began clearing the way to open all lanes of roadway in Downtown La Follette on Monday night.  The refurbished Central Avenue Bridge is now open.

Temporary striping was pulled up.

The wide open bridge was a welcome sight for commuters at 6:20 am on Tuesday morning.

Here goes the removal of the vertical barriers.

Crews adjusted the barrels for west bound outside lane traffic.

There’s still more work to do on the Central Avenue Bridge.  However, those who have traveled through the construction zone for the past nine months will likely not notice, because what’s left to be completed should not alter their recently regained all lanes access.  Lighting on the bridge, new asphalt from First Street to the bridge and from Indiana Avenue to the bridge, the windows (railing) will be texture coated, and it will lighten them up in color, plus there will be a good amount of work done underneath the bridge and more are still ahead.

There is still construction going on in tow,  The flower bed project in Downtown La Follette continues.  There is still one-lane of traffic by Community Trust Bank and Josie’s Hair Fashions.  Orange barrels will stay in place there for a few more days.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 06/16/2020-6AM-PHOTOS COURTESY OF WLAF’S CHARLIE HUTSON)
