CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – Caryville Police arrested Jimmy Shannon Lay, 47, of La Follette on June 23 on multiple drug charges.
According to the arrest report, Caryville Officer Tony Mahar was sitting in the Shoney’s parking lot when he observed Lay run a stop sign at the corner of Highway 25 and Main Street in Caryville.  Officer Mahar initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle.  Lay told police he had “left his wallet at the house.”
While talking to Lay, officer Mahar noticed a glass pipe sitting in the passenger seat of the vehicle. When officer Mahar asked Lay if anything else illegal was in the vehicle, Lay said “he didn’t know what was in the car,” according to the arrest report.
