LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Last week, State Representative Dennis Powers attended the Board Meeting of the Campbell County Christian Learning Center to provide a Legislative update of this past Session at Nashville.

State Representative Dennis Powers is serving in his 5th term.

The main topic was HB 2542 which provided an update to the Time Release Courses that are offered at the Campbell County Christian Learning Center at Hillcrest Baptist Church. The new bill defines a release time period as “one-hour,” added transportation opportunities and clarifies that students must be excused to take the course if allowed by parents or guardians and may not be counted as absent. Release time periods may not be taken when state- or federal-mandated courses are being held in school.
