JACKSBORO, TN. (WLAF)- Campbell County officials have confirmed that an employee working in the courthouse has tested positive for COVID-19 using a rapid test.  This prompted the courthouse to be cleaned twice on Wednesday and some courts to cancel their dockets.

The employee did receive a positive reading using a rapid test but has since been tested again at the health department to confirm the diagnosis, according to Campbell County Mayor EL Morton.

On Wednesday, chancery court was dismissed for the afternoon after learning of the positive test. General sessions’ dockets were also cancelled and reset for next week.

“The health department was satisfied with the steps taken by county officials,” Morton said.

The courthouse continues to use a single-point of entry and, per an order from the state supreme court, requires masks for everyone coming into the building.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED- 07/23/2020- 6AM)
