Dr. Maran performs procedures such as colonoscopies, upper endoscopies and therapeutic endoscopic interventions exclusively at Jefferson Memorial Hospital and Newport Medical Center.

Dr. Maran earned his medical degree from Madurai Medical College in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. After coming to the United States, he completed a residency in internal medicine at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN; and fellowship training in gastroenterology, also at East Tennessee State University.

Dr. Maran is board certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine.

“I am committed to helping people with digestive disorders lead more comfortable and healthy lives,” Dr. Maran said. “I also specialize in capsule endoscopy, which uses a tiny wireless camera that takes pictures as it passes through the digestive tract. The camera sits inside a small capsule—about the size of a large vitamin pill—that is swallowed. Images are transmitted to a recording device worn on a belt around your waist. This safe and painless in-office procedure allows doctors to see areas of inflammation as well as tumors in the small intestine.”

Tennova Healthcare offers the latest techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of digestive disorders including endoscopy at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Newport Medical Center, North Knoxville Medical Center, Turkey Creek Medical Center and LaFollette Medical Center. With more than 20 gastroenterology specialists at multiple locations across the region, the health system is dedicated to offering patients comprehensive care for a full range of digestive health conditions—close to home.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 07/23/2020-11:55AM)
