CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has released the name of the individual who was found deceased Thursday morning on Pike Lane in Caryville.
 According to TBI spokesperson Leslie Earheart, the deceased individual has been identified as Derrick Wayne Wilhoit of Caryville, with a date of birth of 10/6/92.
TBI Special Agents with the Drug Investigation Division, working alongside the 8th Judicial District Drug Task Force, are investigating the circumstances leading to the death of a man whose body was discovered Thursday morning in the 100 block of Pike Lane in Caryville.
His body has been sent for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Derrick was my step grandson…He might be alive if all the people there would hv called 911 instead of running off..I heard they all were afraid of getting into trouble so they just left hm there to die…I really hope the police don’t put this on the back burner..The police need to find these people an charge them..In my eyes they all committed a murder for not calling 911..Just left hm there with no regard for life.. Derrick was only 27yrs old an had his whole life ahead of him..This is a very sad time for his family an all that knew him..we are all still in shock over what happened.
