CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – A Knoxville man was arrested for aggravated armed robbery on Thursday, after he robbed a LaFollette woman at gunpoint.  According to a Caryville Police report, Paxton Levont Everett, 27, Knoxville, was arrested on July 30 on multiple charges.

Caryville police officer Tony Mahar was dispatched at around 9:15 pm, Thursday on the report of an armed robbery that had occurred at the 134 Exit of I-75 . Dispatch reported two males were heading southbound on Interstate 75 in a silver Dodge Charger.  Mahar located the vehicle and attempted to perform a traffic stop, but Everett continued driving in the passing lane.  According to the report, he continued to swerve in and out of the passing and travel lane, as well as into the median, before finally stopping at the 129 mile marker.  Mahar detained Everett and his passenger and transported them back to the Shell gas station at the 134 exit “where the robbery had occurred.”

After speaking with the victim, officers learned  Everett had offered her a ride. When she declined, he got out of the car, allegedly grabbed her by the arm and pushed her face down and put something hard to the back of her head, which she believed to be a gun.  According to the police report, he then grabbed her purse, dumped it out and took all her money. Everett then let the victim go, threw her purse out the window and told her to “run.”

The victim told officers that around $600 had been stolen. Officer Mahar searched Everett’s car and found $160 in the driver’s side door and $376 on his person. According to the victim, the other male had nothing to do with the robbery and had attempted to get Everett to “leave the victim alone.”

Everett was arrested and charged with aggravated armed robbery, aggravated kidnapping, theft of property under $999, aggravated assault, felony evading arrest, failure to maintain lane, and failure of driver to exercise due care. He was transported to the county jail where he remains housed this morning on a $75,000 secure bond.  Everett is due in court on Tuesday.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/03/2020-6AM)
