JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Campbell County Commissioners met via Zoom online Monday evening for a brief budget and finance committee meeting to approve budget amendments.   Amendments approved included two on the general purpose school fund and several for the highway and public works department.

According to assistant finance director Richard Terry, the amendments to the general purpose school fund were needed, because estimates on PPE for the schools came in $3,000 less than anticipated. There was also a change of $422.70 to the Family Resource program and the budget needed changed to realign funds from another account to make up that difference. An amendment to the county general fund was needed due to a change in funds from the state from the CARES grant. The state is assisting the county with purchases of cleaning supplies and services due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Other amendment changes were to the highway and public works department. One amendment was for $16,427 in state aid that needs to be carried over as revenue from last year’s budget. These funds are for insurance for state aid projects. The other amendments were for fund appropriations for high priority bridge replacement. One is for $334,000 appropriated for the bridge over Titus Creek and the other is for $649,000 appropriated for the bridge replacement on Stinking Creek Road.

These amendments all passed the budget and finance committee and county commissioners will vote on it next week at the 6 p.m. Zoom meeting on Mon., Aug. 17. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/11/2020-6AM)
