LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – As you travel Highway 63, the General Carl W. Stiner Highway, you are likely already seeing wooden stakes along the way.  It’s all a part of the road construction plan for the highway that connects Campbell and Claiborne Counties.  You can see details of all three phases of the project HERE.WLAF’s Charlie Hutson said, “The sign installers have marked the spots for the construction warning signs using wooden stakes.  These signs will be located on all the roads that intersect with Highway 63.  The stakes warn of the start and the end of the construction zone, one on each side of the road.”

“Before the sign goes up, LUB ( water, sewage & electric ), PCUD and AT&T will send out spotters to mark the location of their lines,” Hutson said.  Once the lines are marked, hopefully no lines will be ruptured when the steel sign poles are driven into the ground.

Hutson points out that usually once the signage project is completed, the construction starts.  However, keep in mind that you have a lot of roads connecting to Highway 63 in Campbell County alone.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 09/03/2020-6AM-PHOTOS COURTESY OF WLAF’S CHARLIE HUTSON)
