CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – A Campbell County man admitted to driving in a reckless manner then went to jail.

Just before 7 pm on Sept. 9, Campbell County Sheriff’s Sgt. Nathaniel Bostic and Deputy Tim Powers answered a call about an accident on Cherry Lane in Caryville.

When they arrived, the pair found the victim and Tyler Shane Russell standing next to a 1995 Ford Ranger.  According to the report, Russell was asked what had happened, and he replied that he was driving in a reckless manner and that he was impaired.  Russell was asked if he had been drinking and he allegedly replied “yes.”

Russell was requested to perform field sobriety tests.  He stated there would be no reason to do that, because he was impaired, according to a report from the sheriff’s department.

When Bostic spoke with the victim, he said he was inside of his home and heard the pick-up wreck. Based on the officer’s report, Russell’s truck hit the mailbox, valued at $100, and then struck a storage building causing damage estimated at $1,500.

Russell, 24, was charged with drivers to exercise due care, violation of TN financial law and driving under the influence (DUI).  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 09/18/2020-6AM)
