NASHVILLE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – At the groundbreaking of the Tennessee College of Applied Technology campus at Jacksboro, Sen. Ken Yager  (R-Kingston) who was a key supporter of the project, announced he would raise $15,000 in funds for the Jacksboro TCAT Foundation.  On Mon., Sept. 28, Yager will present checks to the foundation, including those from AT&T and Consolidated Nuclear Security (CNS), as installments towards fulfilling that pledge.

Each community college within the College System of Tennessee has a foundation that raises funds to support their students and campus.  Yager said the TCAT Jacksboro Foundation can make a big difference in the success of students who have special needs that are not addressed by tuition and fee support.
“For example, the cost for books can often be the one hurdle too many for our students to complete their education,” said Yager.  “This is one of many needs where the foundation may be the vital link towards ensuring student success and graduation.”
“The money raised through this foundation will help turn the hopes and dreams of our students and the communities we serve into realities,” he added.   “When these students graduate from their programs, they not only improve life for themselves and their families, it impacts all of us.  I am very grateful for the support received from these two companies and will continue to work to raise funds benefiting our students.”
The event will take place on Mon. Sept. 28 at 4 pm at the Jacksboro TCAT campus on Elkins Road.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 09/25/2020-6AM-PHOTO COURTESY OF WLAF’S CHARLOTTE UNDERWOOD)
