JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – WLAF’S Teacher Feature of the Week is Campbell County High School teacher Amy Davis.  She teaches Algebra II and Geometry and is in her fourth year of teaching.
Davis said she has always had a passion for learning and always thought that education was important.  “Being a teacher offers the ability to help others; no two days are ever the same, and I get to help shape the minds and futures of so many students,” Davis said.
She said she had looked into other professions, but felt her impact on the world would be so much greater if she could help and inspire students.
“I teach math, and I get so many students who walk into my classroom thinking they are bad at math or just hate the subject. I love watching their mindsets change as the year progresses.  I love seeing their accomplishments, no matter how big or how small,” Davis said.
Her favorite part of the job is “when a student says they finally understand and they are excited to solve a math problem.”
With all the unique challenges faced by teachers in 2020, they still manage to see the positive side of things.
According to Davis,  the biggest positive she has noticed from this year is that “students are so understanding of all the changes and challenges this year has brought on.”  She said her classroom and instruction are so different, but the students have never complained.
“They clean their desks, wear their masks, and just do what needs to be done. They have really stepped up, and I am extremely proud of them for that,” said Davis.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 10/01/2020-6AM)
