Lewis Lee Lay, age 69 of Jacksboro, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2020, at his residence. He was born August 11, 1951 in Campbell County to the late Luther and Ethel (Byrge) Lay. Lewis retired from LaFollette Utilities Board after 26 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, and playing the guitar.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Ann Parks.

Lewis is survived by loving wife of 52 years, Mary “Tootsie” (Huckaby) Lay of Jacksboro; son, Lewis Lynn Lay of Jacksboro; grandson, Jimmy Lee Parks and wife, Jackie of Charleston, South Carolina; granddaughter, Peyton Parks and another grandchild on the way; son in law, Jimmy Tate Parks of Jacksboro; brothers, Ronnie Lay and wife, Patricia of Jacksboro, Donald Lay and wife, Peggy of Jacksboro, Wayne Lay and wife, Nora of Caryville; sisters, Linda Barnes and husband, Roger of Jacksboro and Gloria Bell Copper and husband, Johnny of Maynardville; several nieces, nephews, and host of other relatives and friends.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, October 4, 2020 in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with funeral services to follow at 8:00 PM with Rev. Thomas Adkins and Rev. Don Allen officiating . Family and friends will meet at Martin Wilson Funeral Home on Monday, October 5, 2020 at 10:15 AM to go in funeral procession to Jacksboro Cemetery for a 11:00 AM internment.
