LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A call of a man trying to break into a building sent Campbell County Sheriff’s  Deputy Brandon Gross to Chapel View Drive, LaFollette, last Friday  just before 5 am.   When Gross arrived, he spoke with one of the residents who reported she kept hearing loud thumping noises and glass breaking.  She looked out a window and saw a man, later identified as Johnny Franklin Davis, pulling items into the yard.  At this point, her husband went outside to ask Davis what he was doing and why he was naked.  Davis allegedly responded he was doing nothing, according to the report from the sheriff’s department.

After speaking with the homeowners, Gross, Deputy Joseph Weaver and Deputy Jordan Tolliver searched the area attempting to find Davis. Eventually, they went down the street to 135 Chapel View Drive, LaFollette and spoke with Davis’s sister.  The sister reported she had searched outside for him and could not find him.  She continued  the only place she had not looked was in her garage.  Deputies found Davis hiding in a corner behind a chair and under a shelf, according to the report.

When Davis was arrested, he allegedly said “I didn’t mean to cause any trouble to my friend, I did it.  OK, just get me to wherever you’re going to take me.”

Davis, 36, 135 Chapel View Drive, LaFollette was charged with vandalism over $1,000.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 10/08/2020-6AM)
