JELLICO, TN (WLAF) – Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Christopher West responded to Highway 297 near Jellico about a possible overdose on Sun., Nov. 8 just before 6 pm. When he made it to the scene, he found Jellico Police Officer Ned Smiddy, Jr. Smiddy told him both individuals in the pick-up truck were passed out inside the Ford Ranger when he arrived.

Smiddy had to open the door and shake the driver to wake him up. At this point, the passenger identified himself as Timothy Clay Ayers. West then asked the driver, later identified as Ricky Monroe Anderson, if he had driven to this location, according to a report from the sheriff’s department. Anderson said he had driven to where officers found him. He was then asked to step out of the truck. Once out of the truck, West noticed Anderson was allegedly swaying and stumbling and had slurred speech.

After performing unsatisfactorily on field sobriety tests, Anderson was arrested. A third party was allowed to come pick up Ayers and the truck Anderson was driving.

Anderson, 50, 2959 Lot Mud Creek Road, Williamsburg, KY is charged with driving under the influence (DUI) 2nd offense. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 11/16/2020-6AM)
