LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A man and a woman with criminal records were arrested Monday just after sunset following a traffic stop.

John Wallen, 29, of La Follette, was pulled over by Campbell County Sheriff’s Lt. Travis Bostic for a moving violation, according to dispatch. Wallen was driving a white Ford van and ended up stopping in the Woodson Mall – Food City Center parking lot.

Wallen was with 29-year- old Tasha Gibson of Caryville. Based on jail records, Gibson has a lengthy criminal record and was arrested for violation of probation out of criminal court.

The van had a stolen license plate and was later towed from the scene. Officials believe the license plate is from a pick-up truck that was reported stolen on Sunday.

The two occupants in the white Ford van were arrested on Monday evening.

During the stop, K9 Santo alerted to the van prompting further investigation, according to dispatch. Wallen was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while revoked, violation of the registration law and violation of the Tennessee financial law.

Gibson is due in criminal court on Dec. 16. Wallen is scheduled to appear in general sessions court on Feb. 9. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 12/08/2020-6AM)
