LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A pick up truck officers say was attempting to cross all four lanes of East Central Avenue only made it past three before ramming into a La Follette Police cruiser that was traveling west on Central.

Jimmy Marcum, arrested by the THP, is facing multiple charges.

Around 3:45 pm Wednesday afternoon, a Chevy pick-up, driven by Jimmy Marcum, was heading from near the La Follette United Methodist Church across Central to North Avenue when it hit the driver’s side door of the cruiser according to LPD Captain Steve Wallen. Counting Marcum, there were four people in the truck.

The Chevy 1600 pick-up driven by Marcum was located in the hospital parking lot.

“Marcum drove on up into the hospital parking lot and was followed by a trooper with the Tennesse Highway Patrol,” said Wallen. The captain said his young officer, who hit the steering wheel with his head, appears as if he’s gonna be fine and is being evaluated at the La Follette Medical Center Emergency Room.

The accident happened across the street from the La Follette United Methodist Church.

The THP charged the 54-year old Marcum of La Follette with driving on a suspended license, failure to yield the right of way and the Tennessee Financial law. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 12/23/2020-7PM)
