JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – In the wee hours of last Tuesday morning, Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Shears responded to the call of a prowler on the porch of a home on Landmark Road in the Pinecrest community.

Shears learned from the homeowner that a tall man with a beard wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and light colored pants walked away from the home toward Cumberland Crest.

Moments later, around 2 am, the deputy saw a man on the porch of another home on Landmark Road. Based on the report, the suspect, later identified as 31-year- old John Blake Wilson of Tan Bark Road in La Follette, was witnessed by Shears allegedly attempting to break into the home. Shears said Wilson was holding the door knob and hitting the door with his shoulder. Wilson was instructed by the deputy to step off the porch and lie on the ground to which he complied.

Shears said Wilson was very unsteady on his feet, making erratic movements and speaking incoherently, according to the report.

The homeowners said they did not know Wilson. Wilson was arrested and charged with public intoxication and aggravated burglary. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 01/05/2021-6AM)
