KNOXVILLE, TN (WLAF) – Campbell County returned to game action Tuesday night on Henson Court at Karns. It was the first basketball games, and second district games, since Dec. 11 for the Cougars and Lady Cougars.

The Lady Cougars, behind a career night from freshman Izzy Proffitt, started like a house on fire racing out to a commanding early lead over Karns. Campbell coasted to the 70 to 35 victory to improve to 2 & 0 in the district and 3 & 2 in all games.

For Campbell, Proffitt posted 15 first half points on her way to a 23-point performance followed by 16 from Kayleigh Jordan and Keely Nelson’s 10. Cora Browning tallied seven with five points from Alyssa Brown and four from Erica Brock. Megan Asher added three markers and two points came from Bailey Gillum.

The Cougars were not able to maintain their good start and fell down the stretch to the Karns Beavers by a final of 78 to 63. The Cougars slip to 0 & 2 in district games and 1 & 3 overall.

Double-figure scorers John John Long, Nate Walden and Spencer Boshears led the way for the Orange-n-Blue. Long rang up 19 with 13 first half points while Walden poured through 15 points as Bo finished with 11. Devin Jones followed with nine points. Seth Ward marked down six points, and Bryson Horton scored three.
