JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – The vaccination process in Campbell County has been in operation for the last two weeks, but scheduling calls are outpacing the scheduling system.  According to County Mayor E.L. Morton, he is requesting the governor’s office provide more telephone operators for the scheduling system.

As of Monday evening, the health department was booked for vaccines all day today, Tuesday. Vaccine shipments have not been confirmed, so Wednesday appointments are not yet available. When shipments are confirmed, appointment scheduling for Wednesday will begin again.

Morton released this information in a memorandum on Monday regarding the vaccine scheduling system with the purpose to provide scheduling and contact information to county citizens.

As of January 1, vaccines are available to designated health care workers and citizens age 75 and older. The Campbell County Health Department does COVID-19 testing Monday-Friday.

The department offers self-testing kits Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (please call for an appointment 423-562-8351). PCR testing is offered Tuesday and Thursday 9 a.m.-11 a.m. (please call for appointment). COVID-19 Vaccine is also offered Monday-Friday. Please call the COVID-19 Vaccine Information Line to schedule an appointment 865-549-5343. Vaccinations will be either drive up with staff coming to your car or drive through, (cars pull through the tent for testing) based upon staff availability, weather and patient requirements.

As of January 1, 126,887 Tennesseans have received the first of the two shot vaccine.
