JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – During her report at Tuesday night’s Board of Education meeting, Director of Schools Jennifer Fields told board members that the Federal government was releasing additional funds to school districts to address learning/education loss due to the COVID virus. According to Fields, the government would be awarding Campbell County more than $7 million.

Funds are to be used to help with learning loss and also some infrastructure needs. Fields said the school district would be looking at starting a committee to discuss what needed addressed and where students were behind in learning.

“We will see where we need to target to address those learning losses and education gaps,” Fields said.

There appears to be a lot of confusion and misinformation about the ESSER II funds the Campbell County School System will be receiving. HERE and HERE are the guidelines for expenditures of the $7,045,982.86 federal allocations of ESSER 2.0 showing how the money can be spent.

It is worth noting that as with any Federal money comes Federal guidelines and reporting requirements. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 01/13/2021-11AM)
