JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Jacksboro Elementary teacher Brooke Goins is WLAF’S “Teacher of the Week.”

Goins teaches first grade at Jacksboro Elementary School and is in her tenth year of teaching.

She said she became a teacher because she has always “loved working with children.” One of her favorite parts of the job is seeing her students learn new things and succeed.

“Seeing them succeed is very rewarding. I love building relationships with my students. They teach me so much, and the innocence they have is such a blessing. We learn that it’s okay to make mistakes, and we learn from them,” Goins said.

According to Goins, a positive from this year despite the pandemic is that the students are so happy to be in school. “Seeing them building relationships with their classmates is very important. We may not be able to have a “normal” year, but we are making the best of it, and I think they are doing great!”

PUBLISHER’S NOTE: Brooke Goins received worldwide recognition, along with fellow JES teacher Brittani Stooksbury, in the fall of 2019. Brooke’s “thank you” on Facebook to other JES teachers for helping pool a few dollars to buy food to send home with a hungry child caught fire and triggered an unprecedented response.
