KNOXVILLE, TN (WLAF) – The Campbell Cougars winning streak ended at three on Thursday night at Central High while the Lady Cougars snapped a two game skid. WATCH the games here on demand from WLAF.

It took two overtimes, a five-quarter game, for the Campbell Lady Cougars to finally shake Central 54 to 50. The game was tied at 41 at the end of regulation and then at 48 after one extra session. It was indeed a night when every point had to count.

Ten Lady Cougars played with eight putting up points. Senior Alyssa Brown’s 18 points led the way along with 13 from Freshman Izzy Proffitt. Cora Browning tallied 8 as Keely Nelson scored 4 followed by three each from Bailey Gillum, Kayleigh Jordan and Lilli Slover. Megan Asher finished with 2 while Erica Brock and Kiley Davis played and did not score.

The Lady Cougars are 5 & 6 in all contests and sport a 4 & 3 district record. The Cougars record is 4 & 6 and in the district, it is 3 & 5.

Central snapped Campbell’s three game winning streak with a 67 to 46 win. Sophomore Noah Burden was best on the night for the Cougars in the scoring column leading the way with 10 points as Devin Jones added 9 followed by Nate Walden’s 8. Garrett Medley had 5 points as Spencer Boshears had 4 with three points a piece coming from Riley Faulkner and Bryson Horton while Will Lester added 2. John John Long played and did not score. Cougars Caleb Muncy and Seth Ward did not see action. Ward was injured in the Powell win and will be out a couple of games.

Game times are set for Saturday’s (01/23/2021) games at Clinton. The JVs tip at 4 pm followed by the Lady Cougars at 5:30 pm, and the Cougars play at 7 pm.
