LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Last night the LaFollette City Council met with a light agenda. Watch the meeting HERE on demand.

Four resolutions started the meeting.  Resolution 2021-01 to issue general obligations bonds not to exceed $1,025,000 and Resolution 2021-02 to issue general obligations bonds not to exceed $9,500,000 were approved. The resolutions will allow for refinancing of current debt to a lower interest rate, purchase equipment and perform roofing work on properties previously purchased. Resolution 2021-03 adding the capital outlay note to the budget and Resolution 2021-04 amending the original 2020-21 budget were also approved.  

The council approved the allocation of funds from the Capital Outlay Note totaling $1,072,300. Some of the items to be purchased with the funds are a new recreation building, two tractors for the street department, three police cars, 22 chairs for the conference room and council chambers.

John Davis was hired as a full-time fire fighter at a salary of $30,646.72 beginning Feb. 13, 2021. He is currently employed part time.

The police policy for accreditation bringing policies up to date was tabled until next month’s meeting. Councilman Mark Hoskins wanted additional time to review the policies. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/03/2021-6AM)
