JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – This week’s teacher feature spotlight shines on second grade teacher Tanya Byrge. She teaches at Jacksboro Elementary School and is in her tenth year as an educator.

Byrge said she was inspired to teach because she wanted to make a difference in children’s lives.

“Children are like little sponges, and they really have a desire to learn. I love being able to ignite their passion for learning and to see the pride they possess when they begin to learn and master new skills,” Byrge said.

Her favorite part about teaching is when her students begin to learn and understand new things.

“I love to see the look on a child’s face when they really begin to understand a new skill. They have such a sense of accomplishment and pride,” Byrge said.

Despite all the changes and challenges faced by teachers and students alike, Byrge said it’s still been a great year.

As a result of it, Byrge said she had learned to be more “creative and flexible.” (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/11/2021-6AM)

  1. I appreciate all teachers during this time. No one knows the things they do for their students. Many prayers are prayed and many sleepless nights are spent on these kids! No doubt this teacher is amazing!
