JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Former Lady Cougars playing college basketball came away with victories.

The 12th ranked Lady Eagles of Carson-Newman won a close one at Wise, Virginia, Wednesday night by a score of 92 to 89. Skylar Boshears tallied 12 points in leading C-N to an 11 & 1 record; all games within the South Atlantic Conference. Bo added three rebounds, one steal and one assist in the win over Virginia-Wise. Boshears Lady Eagles travel to Salisbury, North Carolina, for a 2 pm SAC showdown with Catawba.

True Freshman Madison Brady had a career night Thursday at Cookeville as she and her Tennessee Tech Lady Eagles dominated Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville (SIUE). Brady tallied a career high eight points to go along with two rebounds while going four for five from the field in only 10-minutes of action. Tech won 81 to 42 improving to 11 & 6 and 9 & 5 within the Ohio Valley Conference. The Lady Eagles host Eastern Illinois on Saturday afternoon at 2 pm.

Haley Comer’s Lady Senators of Walters State ventured to Bridges Arena at Spartanburg, South Carolina, on Thursday and returned to Morristown with a win. State whipped Spartanburg Methodist 70 to 48 to improve to 2 & 1. Comer only played 22 minutes in the lopsided win and finished with four points, one rebound, one assist and one steal. The sophomore and Walters State visit Chattanooga on Saturday for a 2 pm game with the Tigers of Chattanooga State.

Sarah Cain-Weinburger and her Bryan Lady Lions were not able to play on Thursday at Barbourville, Kentucky, against Union. Bryan hosts Point University at Summers Gym on what will be senior night for Cain-Weinburger. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/12/2021-6AM)
