LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – The Joint Economic Community Development Board met Thursday evening and voted on several issues, including setting pay for board members and electing a board chair.

According to JECD board secretary/treasurer Kenny Baird, the board voted to set board member pay at a flat fee of $100 per member per meeting. The JECDB meets quarterly and has 17 board members.

Payment for JECDB record keeper Amanda Grodeman was also voted on and set at $125 per month, with an additional $100 per meeting.

A travel policy was also approved and set in case anyone travels to a conference or meeting. The board used a copy of the LaFollette Utilities Board travel policy to use as a template for its own travel policy.

According to Baird, the JECDB hired an auditor to perform a standard required audit. The board voted to hire Pugh & Company CPAs out of Knoxville. It was approved to appropriate up to $5,000 to cover the cost of the audit, though Baird said he believed “it would not cost the full $5,000.”

Jay Willoughby was elected to be chair of the JECDB and will replace Jacksboro Mayor June Forstner.

The next JECDB meeting will be Thursday, May 13 at 6 p.m. at the LUB conference room. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/15/2021-6AM)
