JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – A chance to keep its basketball season alive and advance to the regional tournament for the first time in a decade slipped away from the Campbell County Cougars on Thursday night at Brown Gym.
Karns broke open the District 3-AAA quarterfinal game in the fourth quarter and claimed an 82 to 73 victory. The Cougars trailed by two at the half as each team swapped single-digit leads through the night.
Junior Nate Walden finished with 23 points leaving him just 13 points shy of one-thousand points for his career. John John Long and Devin Jones, both sophomores, scored 16 points each followed by a double-digit effort from Spencer Boshears who had 11. Lone Cougar Senior Seth Ward finished with five and Bryson Horton tallied two.
Campbell ends its season at 10 & 11 after a 7 & 7 won-loss mark in the district. The Cougars were the four seed in the tournament.
